Whether it’s a bowtie and tutu twin baby shower, a ballerina birthday party, or a gender reveal, beautiful tutu cake toppers are hard to come by. You’re in luck though. This one is both gorgeous and if I can do it — anyone can. It’s a modified version of That Cute Little Cake’s tutu cake topper.
First, freehand a bodice. If you’re awful at art, like myself…put a paper up to your screen and trace mine. That’s your stencil! Just a side note: I am awful at drawing most things BUT PHENOMENAL at drawing stick figures. I’ll show you some time.
Hot glue a toothpick to the back.
Take two strips of crepe paper, put them on top of each other and fold in two lengthwise. Use the crease as a guide and sew the whole length of the strip. Leave enough string at both ends to be able to tie them together.
Bunch that bad boy up and tie both ends together.
Separate the layers and fluff.
Add a dab of glue to the sides of the bodice and slide the tutu up (about 1/4 of the way) and BAM, you’ve got yourself a tutu!
Good luck, my friends! Let us know how it goes!
