October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here are a few statistics:
– About 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life.
– The chance of breast cancer doubles if a first degree relative was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, 85% of cases are not considered to be inherited!
– Almost 30% of cancers are breast cancers. It’s the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
– Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women.
The bottom line….early detection is key!! So make sure you contact your physician to get the appropriate screening today!
