When I was growing up, my mother would throw the best parties. I have such sweet memories of my dress up party, cowgirl party, my very first sleepover, and the list goes on. She was the best at keeping everyone entertained. I remember getting make-overs, being a cowgirl, making toilet paper dresses, and the most fun round of karaoke. Each party was exciting and made me feel special. I live to make my girls feel the same way. Last week my girl turned the big F-O-U-R and all she could ask for was a unicorn party, Disney World, a motorcycle, and a live bear. So unicorn party it was! My goal in life is to make my daughter see the magic in this world. If that means transforming the patio into what we now refer to as “Unicornia” (trademark pending), then I’d do it over and over again.
What’s more magical than unicorn macaroons? It’s probably a tie for everything on the dessert table. Jen’s Bake Shop, Sweet as Fry Oreos, Pinecrest Bakery, and Night Owl Cookie CO. are all local favorites and made the best case against dieting that I’ve ever heard. I could probably live off of this dessert table, until my eating habits catch up with me, of course.
I’m the person that craves salt after sweets so as much as I love a sweets table, I always have a savory table. Desserts first for me, a mother’s nightmare.
Because of the overload of sugar, soundly sleeping unicorns held little goodies like playdough, rubber ducky unicorns, bubbles, a bouncy ball, and one unicorn horn lollipop.
Not to worry, this sweet grandpa made sure the kids got their fill of sugar.
And then we provided a way for the children to bounce off that sugar rush.
But what made this party so magical were the people. First, my amazing parents who work so hard to make my girls smile. The way Isabella talks about them and the way Kate smiles at them, I’m sure they know how lucky they are to have these two. I’ve said this before but, I really do have the best parents in all the land. The BEST.
Second are the best tias, family, friends, and these littles who at this point in the party, were loaded with enough sugar to match their sweet dispositions. You’re welcome, parents. We’re so grateful to have so much love surrounding us always.
Here are a few more pictures for the ride…
P.S. I’m all about the after party. I planned accordingly.
