Happy New Year! I am back after a few weeks off…well sort of, as taking care of 3 little ones isn’t really “time off” but we had some fun and exciting times. Along with the New Year, we have a new law in the state of Florida pertaining to young children and car seats.
My son excited about being in his car seat. |
As of January 1st, children are required to be seated in a booster up to their 6th birthday. Previously, the law was up to age 4. The new law does not take height and weight into account, however it may be a good idea for parents to consider this before removing the booster at the age of 6. AAA actually recommends for boosters to be used until a child reaches 4’9″. Furthermore, it’s important to make sure that the seatbelt is placed correctly on your child. So if a booster is needed to get the appropriate fit, then it’s better to continue using the booster despite the current law.
