If you haven’t noticed by now, the love for Disney in our family runs deep. Living less than four hours away makes Disney a perfect weekend getaway that we take advantage of often. You would think that the novelty would wear off, but it doesn’t. With over 30 Disney resorts, each visit can be different. Keep in mind that 30 Disney resorts isn’t the same as 30 Marriott Courtyards. There are multiple, varying themes, from sports and pirates to Hawaii and the wilderness. Recently, we were able to stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside.
Our room was in a cottage alongside the river. Walking passed it in the mornings, we saw playful otters chasing each other and beautiful birds basking in the morning sun. The room was cozy (the bed a little less cozy, but I prefer a softer mattress), the theme was also pretty neat. The perfect definition of “glamping.”
Because we visit Disney several times each year, we rarely stay on property. But there are so many reasons why YOU should, especially if you don’t go very often. The main one being that embedding yourself in Disney is the BEST way to do Disney. There’s also the added convenience of taking the tram, bus, or boats into the park, saving on parking, and having great gift shops close by. The best part is that when you stay on property, you get to book your fast passes 60 days out, as opposed to the 30 days out everyone else gets. Downside, there are no elevators, upside, it’s only two levels. Disney Port-Orleans Resort-Riverside is definitely one of the most fun themed Disney hotels we’ve stayed at. Make sure that when you visit, you enjoy a beignet riverside while watching baby otters nap holding hands. It’s seriously like being in the bayou.

I’ve never been to a Disney location. I had no idea that there was more than just Disneyland and Disney World!! This location is beautiful.
